Turmeric Tea

Turmeric Tea Hannah Brown Nutrition blog

I stepped outside this morning, and the foggy haze and earthy smell of mounds of crisp brown fallen leaves signaled Autumn. Yes, it’s that time of year when Starbucks introduce their pumpkin spiced latte again. But did you know that a 16oz cup (Grande) contains 50 grams of sugar (& is 420 calories)?

If you’re on a diet and trying to avoid sugar-laden snacks & beverages, or you’re just trying to cut back on your caffeine and sugar intake, here’s a delicious alternative for when those sugar cravings strike – a wonderfully wet treat to warm you up and gently caress that sweet tooth of yours….

Turmeric tea

Ingredients (Serves 2)

1 cup of tinned coconut milk

1 cup of water or almond milk

1 tbs coconut oil

1 tsp raw or Manuka honey

2 tsp of ground or fresh turmeric

1 tsp grated fresh ginger

Method:

1. Pour the coconut milk and water or almond milk into a saucepan and warm for 2 minutes.

2. Add the ground or fresh turmeric, coconut oil, honey and grated fresh ginger. Warm for another 2 minutes to infuse the spices and sweetness.

3. Stir and pour into mugs.
